Re-Roofing due to Hail Damage 5-15-2012

Today is the day to re-roof the house - its going to be close to 85 degrees today.  We had two pretty severe hailstorms last June and July 2011, and so the roofing and rain gutters were damaged enough that they need to be replaced.  The re-roofers arrived at 11:30 am - with one truck loaded with shingles and two trucks with trailers and felt.  There are lots of guys (8-10) and they all seem eager to get up on the roof and start slinging off the old shingles.  They plan to do most of the house today and then the garage/shop roof tomorrow.  Contractor is BOLT CONSTRUCTION from Rapid City, SD.

Lots of noise right now - their tool of choice is a potato fork.  One guy is taking off the turtle vents with an impact drill.  They are working really fast - they will take off the old and then start putting the new back on almost immediately.  More updates to follow.

DIRTWORK TASKS (Somewhat close to this order): (April - May 2012)


1.  RELOCATE ROCKS FROM BACKYARD SURPLUS PILE TO FRONT YARD FLOWER BEDS.  USE 2000 GMC TRUCK TO TRANSPORT.

2.  MOVE ROCK PILE (PURCHASED WITH THE PROPERTY) NEAR ROAD TO SHED PAD AREA.  USE RAVE BROTHERS BOBCAT.

 

3.  MOVE ROCK COLLECTION FROM NORTH SIDE OF GARAGE TO SHED PAD AREA.

4.  MOVE SURPLUS PILE OF ROCKS FROM BACKYARD TO SHED PAD AREA.

5.  DIG UP LARGE RANDOMLY PROTRUDING ROCKS IN BACKYARD.

7.  LEVEL FILLING OVER 400' WATER PIPE AREA.

8.  LEVEL FILLING OVER LEACH FIELD AT WEST END OF PROPERTY.

9.  BUILD UP SHED PAD WITH 12 TONS OF ROAD GRAVEL (AREA 16' X 24') - FIRST LOAD SHOWN.   SECOND LOAD WAS REQUIRED AS WELL (TOTAL OF 24 TONS).

10.  LEVEL OFF ROAD GRAVEL.

11.  FILL IN HOLES LEFT BY REMOVAL OF PROTRUDING ROCKS.  FRONT YARD REQUIRED A LOAD OF UNFILTERED DIRT FROM BOX ELDER/RAPID VALLEY.

13.  RAKE AREA ABOVE WATER PIPE FILL AND REMOVE MOWER DAMAGING ROCKS AND OTHER BIG ROCKS TOO.

14.  RAKE AREA ABOVE LEACH FIELD FILL AND REMOVE MOWER DAMAGING ROCKS.


15.  RAKE ALL OTHER AREAS DISTURBED BY ROCK REMOVAL AND/OR LEVELING OPS.

16.  PURCHASE SHED FROM ACE HOME CENTER AND WAIT FOR ITS DELIVERY.

Basement Finishing Project

A major Milestone was completed today - we completed the ceramic tile floor in the bathroom - Jan 21, 2012.  So now all the "appliances" and other jewelry can be installed.

Bathroom project was started back in May, 2011.

I'll try to put in a few pictures to show some progress since beginning this basement finishing project maybe two years ago.

Bathroom "jewelry" (paper holder, towel racks) being added now..
