This is a big branch from a cotton wood tree we found along a creek at the RANCH a couple years ago. I shaped a 4x4 to fit inside the hollow tree. We sealed the 4x4 with Thompson Water Seal before planting it in the ground.
Working on the sign hangers in the shop.
Rick made the sign on his CNC Router a while ago - it was a nice clear cedar 2x12.
So first Kathie sealed the whole sign with shellac sealer. Then I painted the info in the oval with a gloss white spray paint.
When that was dry, I painted the background with a black gloss paint by hand with a small brush.
It was getting dark as we set the post in place.
Need two more chain couplers to make it hang straighter. Will get them tomorrow at Knecht Home Center.
I cut numbers for the back side from 2" thick cedar, painted them white and secured them with stainless steel screws.
